Welcome!
Dear Third Avenue Optometry Patients,
Under the guidelines of the Health Officer of San Mateo County, routine eye care has been deemed essential. However, in order to provide paramount safety and care to our patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will only be open for scheduled appointments. Please call or email our office to schedule an appointment prior to coming in for any services. This includes routine eye exam as well as frame selections/adjustments/repair/dispensing and/or contact lens dispensing.
In addition, we have established new protocols for all visits during this pandemic in order to minimize your risk of exposure.
1. When scheduling your appointment, you will be asked questions regarding COVID-19 exposure.
2. To maintain social distancing in the office, we ask that you do not bring a companion to your appointment unless you need a guardian or caregiver to assist you. We request that only one parent accompany each child to his or her appointment. Siblings will not be allowed in the exam room.
3. Masks without an exposed respirator valve are required in the office. Please bring your own mask and wear it during your appointment. For the safety of our staff, and patients, we will not service anyone without a mask. Our office staff will be wearing masks, gloves, and safety goggles/shields.
4. Temperatures will be taken with a non-contact forehead thermometer at the door before entry for your appointment. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) considers a person to have a fever when he or she has a measured temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or greater. You will be asked to reschedule your appointment if you show signs of fever or illness.
5. Upon checking in, please proceed to use hand sanitizer at the front desk or wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water for 20 seconds upon entry into the exam room.
6. Frame selection will be done with the desired frames brought to you while seated. All worn frames will be washed thoroughly with soap and running water following the CDC guidelines before being returned to the shelves for display.
7. We are allowing extra time between patients to disinfect all surfaces in the office. In addition, we have HEPA room air purifiers.
8. Again, please call to schedule an appointment for all services whether to pick up your glasses or contact lenses or if you need a frame adjustment or repair.
Thank you for reading! Your health is our greatest concern. We appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you again soon! Stay safe, strong, and healthy!
Take care,
Dr. Susie Lee & Dr. Nicholas Chan
